About the Artist

I like both the palette knife and brush.  Each element has a certain feel and creates a certain look.  With the palette knife, I feel like a sculpture carving something that feels three-dimensional, when in reality it is two-dimensional.  With the brush, I am able to add detail or create bold stroke.

Currently I work on panels with a deep cradle.  The panels have clean lines and a contemporary feel.  The deeper cradle allows the artwork to almost lift off the wall and come into a room.

Color is a strong component of my work.  I love to push it a bit and see where it takes me.  I am constantly looking around at my world for color compositions.  Just seeing what colors go together, and what makes it so appealing, inspires me.

Whether working on a still life or from my own photo images, I am drawn to the simplistic.  I focus on a few objects and work to capture the mood.  Like all artists, I am fascinated with how light on an object can change the feeling for the viewer.
